On Thursday afternoon this week, the body of a woman was found floating in an irrigation dam on the Rio Sucio River in the village of Ujchirapa, San Pablo Tacachico, north of La Libertad.
Lifeguards and volunteers suspect the body is that of 16-year-old Catherine Cruz, who went missing Sunday when a river flooded in the Las Brisas area of El Congo, Santa Ana state.
Rescue teams from the Salvadoran Red Cross and the Salvadoran Green Cross worked to recover the bodies. The team at the scene confirmed that a relative of the missing young woman went to the scene of the discovery, and based on the characteristics of the body, they believe the woman was a teenager.
