Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman did not declare 2.11 million euros in dividends. The opposition announced that it would demand his dismissal, and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said that the minister had made a mistake and that he would pay the fine.
Portal Index recently revealed that Gordan Grlić Radman For several years, he did not properly fill out the assets card with information on the disbursed part of the profit of the company Agroproteinka, of which he is a co-owner.
On Thursday, he admitted the mistake and said that it was a technical error in filling out the wealth card, which he regretted. He refused political responsibility.
The Croatian Prime Minister also commented on the case on Thursday Andrej Plenković. He said that Grlić Radman made a mistake and that he will pay the fine, but that “it is not an important topic when the government presents a package of measures to help citizens and the economy“.
The opposition thinks otherwise. “That you are not ashamed. In 2019, the Commission for the Prevention of Conflict of Interest found that he has the right to receive dividends, but must declare them. And what does he do then – nothing. He receives 2.11 million euros and nothing,” warned the leader of the largest opposition party, the SDP, on Thursday Peđa Grbin and announced that, together with other opposition parties, he would demand his dismissal. As he explained, they will do this because Grlić Radman, as a member of the government, did not fulfill his obligation to declare millions of euros in dividends from a company that generates a large part of its business in cooperation with the state.
Agroproteinka is majority owned by the Grlić Radman family and deals with the disposal of dead animals. She also took care of the removal of sows that died due to swine fever, and she also did business with the state.
When Grlić Radman became a minister in 2019, the company should also have informed the Commission for the Prevention of Conflict of Interest about its business dealings with the state, but it did not do so. Head of the commission Aleksandra Jozić-Ileković has therefore already announced an investigation into Agroproteinka’s operations.
Grlić Radman’s property is worth around four million euros, according to the data from his property card. He owns several properties and cars and is considered the richest minister in Plenković’s government.
