The Trade Union Conference of the Trade Union of Transport Workers and Unions of the Post of Slovenia draws attention to the non-transparent communication of the management, the reduction of the number of employees, the closing of post offices and violations by the employer. They will draw attention to the problems with a protest rally.
The Trade Union Conference of the Trade and Union Workers Union (SDPZ) of Pošta Slovenije points out that the employees of Pošta Slovenije are not familiar with the business and financial plan for 2024 and the projections for the coming years. The union therefore expects detailed explanations from the management, especially in view of some announcements that a radical reduction in the number of employees is being announced, which they strongly oppose.
As they wrote, Pošta Slovenije has been trying for several years to attract an adequate number of job candidates who would relieve the existing staff and contribute to the reduction of sick leave and overtime work. “That’s why simultaneous announcements of vacancies and reductions in the number of employees are not consistent,” they wrote in a press release.
According to them, they are happening in society “violations in the area of providing rest and breaks, regular medical examinations and procedures for accepting employer’s acts and inhibiting union work”. In their opinion, to manage such a large and complex company as Pošta Slovenije, they need expertise and good supervision.
The SDPZ trade union conference of Pošta Slovenije is surprised by the behavior of the Postal Workers’ Union, which only warned the media about the plans of the company’s management, according to which the number of employees in transport would be reduced by 200, when the business and financial plan had already been approved. “This union has the majority of members in the workers’ council, three members in the supervisory board of Pošta Slovenije, and the workers’ director is also from their ranks,” they explained.
According to them, SDPZ insists on filling the personnel plan and not closing branches. “But this will not be possible until the state provides co-financing of the universal postal service, which Pošta Slovenije is obliged to implement at the expense of its competitiveness, and the employees pay the price, because we always run out of money.” they emphasized.
