The film is on the regular cinema schedule from April 21

The youth film Vesolje med nami, directed by Rahela Jagrič Pirc, won its first international award at the 10th International Children’s Film Festival in Seoul.

To the main actor from the movie, Kill Chilim Budišinuawarded the award for the best player in the competition program Kids Vision. On the website of the festival they wrote: “We are all children. What can bring people together is children, because we all were once.” The director also attended the festival Rahela Jagrič Pirc.

The directorial debut is a youth drama about growing up, set in the town of Kostanjevica on Krka. The story is about a 14-year-old Canadian, Tobi, who travels with his mother Kristina to visit his grandmother Gizela in Slovenia for the summer vacation. Kristina has not been to her hometown for many years, but now she came suddenly and with great news about the exhibition she was supposed to prepare in a local gallery.

“Tobi is not enthusiastic about the idea of ​​spending the holidays in a foreign country, without friends and father. His bad mood intensifies when he first encounters the racial prejudices of the local children. The only bright spot for him is Tjaša, who is very attracted to him with her adventurous nature Their association leads him to an unusual meeting with the blind astronomer Herman, who, like Tobi, is a village outcast.” were described at the Slovenian Film Center (SFC).

Herman opens the door of a forgotten observatory to Tobi, where, with the help of his extensive knowledge of astronomy, he imparts life lessons that originate in space and relate to life on Earth. The star observatory also becomes a refuge for Tobi, where he flees upon the new realization that his parents are having problems in their marriage and that Kristina’s previously planned exhibition was actually an excuse to escape from Canada. In a web of intense emotions and dynamic events, both Tobi and Kristina have to deal with burning relationships, repressed fears and the local society, which looks at them as if they are from another planet.

In addition to the winner, the film also stars Ivo Barišič, Manca Dorrer, Irena Mihelič, Alenka Kraigher, Aljaž Jovanovič, Aliash Tepina, Matic Jamar, Neja Čušin, Jakob Cilenšek, Liam Cimperman and others.

The film was co-financed by the Slovenian Film Center, it also received financial support from the Film Center of Serbia and the Ministry of Culture of Serbia, the SFC added.

The film has been on the regular cinema schedule since April 21, and the ceremonial introduction was provided by a screening as part of the project Our films at home, which the Slovenian Film Center, in cooperation with Cankarjev dom, has been organizing since autumn 2017, and which took place on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m., in the Linhart hall of Cankarjev dom.
