The Danish Board of Health has published new guidelines, putting covid-19 on an equal footing with diseases such as the flu. Thus, residents are no longer recommended to self-isolate for at least four days after a positive covid-19 test result.
The committee explained that they decided on the new guidelines because the number of hospitalized patients remained stable in the fall, and only a small increase is expected in the winter months. However, he stresses that people should stay at home if they feel sick, regardless of what they contracted.
Denmark weathered the pandemic relatively well thanks to its rapid vaccination campaign against Covid-19 and extensive testing. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, more than 3.1 million infections with the new coronavirus have been confirmed in Denmark, which has almost 5.8 million inhabitants.
In the country, all restrictions due to the pandemic were lifted already in February and there are no plans to reintroduce them. This is the head of the Danish Board of Health Soren Brostrom in June justified by the fact that their strategy is a society without limits, so it is more necessary to prevent disease than infections.
