Luck in the accident of Pogačar, who suffered a front tire puncture in the last 3 km

The second stage of the 109th Tour of France did not bring the expected windy drama, but rather a mass sprint of the main body. The strongest was Fabio Jakobsen, who beat Wout van Aert by a hair for a great personal victory. As a consolation, the Belgian took the yellow shirt of the leader.

A big and emotional victory for Fabio Jakobsenwho almost died two years ago in an accident at the end of the sprint at the Race across Poland, where the Dutchman was sent into the fences and into a life-threatening situation by compatriot Dylan Groenewegen.

The stage started in Roskilde at 12:15. The greater part of the 202.2 kilometer long stage is flat, as it has a total of 1274 meters in height.

Cort’s first polka dot shirt

The first half of the 2nd stage was marked by three mountain objectives of the lowest fourth category. The longest is the last one on the Cote de Karup (83 masl; 1.3 km, average gradient 5.8 percent). All three were won by the Dane Magnus Cort Nielsenmaking the American EF Education EasyPost team rider the first holder of the polka dot jersey for the best hillclimber.

31 km before the finish line, the last fugitive was caught Sven Erik Bystrøm. With this, the Norwegian earned the title of the most fighting rider of the 2nd stage.

It is often windy in Denmark and one of the highlights will be the crossing Storebæltsbroena. Everyone has been warning for months that the wind could break the caravan into several echelons and thus mix up the teams in the fight for the yellow shirt. Cyclists are expected at the finish line a little after 5 p.m.
