UES/INDES Construction of Central American Village in El Salvador

Yamil Bukele, president of INDES. Roger Arias, Chancellor of the University of El Salvador. Dinora Acevedo, Director of COSSAN, and Romeo Herrera, Minister of Public Works, announced progress on the construction and renovation of facilities at the University of El Salvador. The university will host Central American and Caribbean Villages for the 2023 Sun Saviors.

“The University of El Salvador is currently 50% through the construction of 13 new buildings and the conversion of 18 existing facilities,” says Yamil Bukele.

Bukele assured that work on the UES is expected to be completed by May 30th.

“I hope to have everything ready by May 30th at the latest. We’re 50% done, working on time and form,” he said.

Public Works Minister Romero Herrera said 395,000 square meters were involved in the UES, in addition to more than 1,000 constructions.

“395,000 square meters have been intervened at the University of El Salvador. In addition, more than 1,000 toilets have been built. There are bathrooms and showers for every four athletes,” he declared.

Herrera announced that improvements to sidewalks and pedestrian spaces around UES will begin in the coming days.

“It will also begin in the coming days, along with some work on improving sidewalks and pedestrian spaces.”

The Minister assured that more than 3,000 employees are now working around the clock to complete Villa Centroamericana.

“UES Villa Centroamericana has more than 50 machines and more than 3,000 employees,” he claimed.

“We are improving false ceilings, doors and windows in both existing parts and new structures. We are also doing storage works, drinking water and electricity supply,” he added.

UES’s Central American Village will host more than 7,000 athletes during 15 days of competition at the 2023 San Salvador Central American and Caribbean Games.
