Nika Glojnarič will be the only Slovenian representative on the fourth day of the World Championships in Athletics in Budapest, in the evening she will compete in the first round of the 100 meter hurdles. The four final decisions will be broadcast from 19:50 onwards on TV SLO 2 and MMC.
The broadcast will begin with the awarding of medals in the discus throw, in which Kristjan Čeh won silver yesterday.
There will also be a Nigerian in the Slovenian athlete’s group Tobi Amusanwho won the gold medal at the WC in Eugene last year with a world record (12.12).
Glojnarič, who comes from the Brežice club, will run at 19:12 in the last, fifth group of the first round. The top four from each group and the fastest four remaining will qualify for the semi-finals.
With this year’s personal record, Glojnarič has the worst time in the group. She ran the fastest ever on June 8 in St. Pölten in Austria. With an achievement of 12.92 (wind within the permissible limit of +0.7 m/s), she went below the magic limit of 13 seconds for the first time in her career and has since been the second fastest Slovenian woman in history.
Then, on July 8, at the national championship in Velenje, she ran under 13 seconds (12.99) for the second time.
Before her, they only broke the 13-second mark Brigita Bukovecwho set a Slovenian record with a time of 12.59 for silver at the Olympic Games in Atlanta on July 31, 1996, and ten years ago also Marina Tomić, who achieved a result of 12.94.
Four sets of medals will be awarded today at the WC. At 7:55 p.m., the high jump athletes will start, at 8:20 p.m. the women’s discus throw will start, at 9:30 p.m. the women’s 1,500 m race will follow, and at 9:50 p.m. there will be the men’s 3,000 m steeplechase final.
