In Republika Srpska, the announced marking of the anniversary was banned

At that time, the idea of a modern and sovereign state was born, a resolution was adopted that BiH is neither Serbian, nor Croatian, nor Muslim, but from all equal nations. It became an equal republic within Yugoslavia. But the holiday is celebrated only in the entity Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in Republika Srpska, the announced celebration of the anniversary has been banned.

In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the holiday was marked with a series of ceremonies. The central one was held at Hum nad Sarajevo, attended by Bosniak and Croat members of the presidency.

“The alternative to ZAVNOBIH, or the anti-fascist assembly, was the Chetnik Congress in Ravnogorje two months later. If the idea of ZAVNOBIH, the idea of a unified Bosnia and Herzegovina, the equality of all citizens of nations, had not won, the Chetnik concept, which envisioned a greater Serbia, would have won.” he said Denis Becirović, Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency.

Meanwhile, in Banja Luka, the Ministry of the Interior of the Republika Srpska has banned marking for security reasons. There, at the protest, they played songs about Kosovo and Serbia and shouted “this is Serbia” and “March to the Drina”. As they say, this day means nothing to them, they claim that those who propagate brotherhood and unity are trying to trample the Serbs.

“In order not to be provoked and humiliated, we fighters who are still alive, also in the name of those who gave their lives for the Republic of Serbia, decided to resist this,” he said Goran Rogic, president of the Republika Srpska veterans’ organization.

They booed the foreign minister Elmedin Konaković and Prime Minister Federation Nermin Nikšić, who came to the premises of the Social Democratic Party in Banja Luka, which announced the ceremony.

“I’m sorry that some people were deceived by someone. They lost in the Second World War, the partisans defeated the Chetniks. Banja Luka is Bosnia and Herzegovina, not Serbia,” said Niksic.

The ceremony in Mrkonjić Grad was also banned in the Republika Srpska, but it was held in the Srebrenica memorial center, which is otherwise located in the Republika Srpska. The Serbs there also do not recognize that genocide took place in Srebrenica.

National Day is celebrated only in the Federation, but in the Republika Srpska they claim that Bosnia and Herzegovina was created by initialing the Dayton Agreement on November 21, 1995. On January 9, they also celebrate the Day of the Republic of Srpska, which was declared unconstitutional by the state constitutional court.
