Reforms to the Land Transportation, Traffic and Road Safety Act approved today by the Legislative Assembly include increased fines for violations by public passenger transport.

Similar to the general table of traffic violations, violations set up for carriers are categorized as Minor, Major, and Very Serious, with dollar amounts of $50, $100, and $150, respectively.

The reform establishes that sanctions will be imposed on the owner or rightful owner of the vehicle, and any fines will be the responsibility of that owner and charged to the distribution card for that purpose. An obituary is imposed on a driver’s license unless the person responsible for the act committed can be identified.

Minor violations include:

1. Do not carry the fee in a visible place.

2. Parking for more than the time required to board or disembark (Passengers).

3. Do not return change when canceling a large ticket.

4. Start marching without giving enough time for passengers to board and disembark.

Serious violations are:

1. Stop where it is not permitted and away from gutters and sidewalks. Pick up and drop off passengers at such places and corners.

2. Force public transport passengers to drop off in units as there is no change.

3. Cycle with loud music.

4. Drive with the door open.

Loud driving has one sanction

The very serious ones are:

1. You do not have a line operating permit.

2. Public passenger transport vehicles do not have route numbers and origin and destination signs, or rental cars do not have oval signs.

3. Buses and minibuses should allow passengers to sit to the left of the driver.

4. Transport passengers in cargo vehicles. Excludes pickup trucks and licensed trucks.

5. Change the rate approved by the authorities.

6. Objection to passengers who endanger road safety.

7. Working outside the routes on which vehicles are permitted to circulate, except in the case of pre-agreed express services.

8. Not respecting stops previously indicated by the Traffic Engineering Unit.

9. Make the box or rack available for passengers.

10. Refuel public transport vehicles carrying passengers.

11. Do not respond to requests for transportation of persons with disabilities.

12. Allow passengers to exit through the front door and enter through the rear door.

13. Blockage of highways during demonstrations.

14. Allow passengers to enter the unit with flammable, explosive, or pyrotechnic items.

15. Not wearing approved colors or specific badges.

16. No reflective tape or prescribed cateye.

17. Circulate as a local alternative mode of transportation without a corresponding permit.

18. Circulate as an alternative means of transport for routes or areas outside the authorized territory.

19. Exceeding the passenger capacity according to the specifications of the vehicle.

20. Driving with an expired license.

21. Recognizes to the concessionaire or licensee that public transportation drivers are not authorized to operate in any manner;

22. Driving public transport vehicles by various means with the corresponding driver’s license without permission.

23. Driving with an expired driver’s license.

24. Do not carry deposits and respective signs inside the transport unit for passengers to deposit their rubbish.
