What Max Verstappen needs to keep F1 world title at Japanese GP

Max Verstappen is one step away from becoming a two-time F1 champion and could do so at the Japanese Grand Prix. What do the Dutch need in Suzuka?

Max Verstappen (red bull) failed to win two F1 World Championships at the Singapore Grand Prix after signing one of the most uncertain races of the season with a 7th place finish at the Marina Bay Circuit.

Sunday’s winners were Dutch team-mate Sergio ‘Czech’ Perez of Mexico, followed by Monaco’s Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).

Verstappen’s next ‘match point’ is the Suzuka circuit. ‘Supermax’ scores his 341 points, 104 points ahead of Leclerc (237) and 106 points ahead of him over his closest pursuer, ‘Czech’ (235).

What does it take for Verstappen to become a two-time champion of Japan’s ‘great circus’?

at a quick turn point
1. If you win the race
2. If he is 3rd, Leclerc is 6th or lower, Pérez is 2nd or lower
3. If Leclerc is 9th or lower in 5th place and Perez is 3rd or lower
4. 6th, Leclerc 10th or lower, Perez 3rd or lower

without a sharp turning point
1. He is 2nd, Leclerc is 5th, not faster than the fastest lap and Pérez is 4th or lower
2. If he is 3rd, Leclerc is 7th or lower and Pérez is 5th or lower
3. If Leclerc is 9th or below in 4th and Perez is 3rd or below
4. If he is 5th, Leclerc finishes 9th with the fastest lap or less and Pérez is 3rd or less.
5. If he is 6th and Leclerc does not score and Pérez is 4th or below

If you get no results, The 25-year-old Dutchman still has a chance to become a two-time champion when the circuit passes to America, first in America on October 23 and then in Mexico on October 30.
